Steve Burrington

In key public and private sector roles, Steve has won national recognition for leadership in tackling energy, transportation and sustainable development challenges. He works with diverse clients to carry out innovative large-scale energy efficiency and clean energy strategies, green urban redevelopment projects, and state land-use and transportation policy initiatives. Burrington previously served as commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, where he led the formation of the nation’s sixth-largest and most diverse state parks, infrastructure and natural resources agency, and as undersecretary in the Massachusetts Office for Commonwealth Development, a “super-secretariat” that linked state transportation, housing, environmental and energy agencies to support sustainable growth in cities and town centers. Before entering state government, he was vice president and general counsel for the Conservation Law Foundation,New England’s leading environmental protection organization. Steve is a founder and principal of Renew Energy Partners LLC, an energy efficiency project development and finance firm serving commercial, industrial and non-profit enterprises.
